The nose is a very sensitive subject for many people. A nose that is disproportionate to the face, whether too big or too small, can make men and women feel self-conscious and cause them to seek surgical treatments. For others, surgery may be necessary in order to correct birth defects, breathing problems or to repair an injury. Rhinoplasty, or nose surgery, is a common cosmetic procedure performed by Dr. Judge. This surgery is performed to reduce, reshape or augment the nose, remove a hump, change the angle between the nose and mouth, narrow the width of the nostrils, shape the bridge or tip of the nose.
You may be a candidate for rhinoplasty if you want to correct your:
Rhinoplasty can be “open” or “closed.” The open procedure separates the skin of your nose from the underlying framework. This offers excellent exposure to allow for precise sculpting and shaping during the surgery. A closed procedure is performed through multiple incisions inside the nostrils. It can be used for very limited nose job operations. Dr. Judge performs both open and closed rhinoplasty will discuss the optimal procedure recommendation for your specific concern during your one-on-one consultation.

Once you have booked your Rhinoplasty or nose surgery, Dr. Judge’s office will coordinate the date and time of your nose surgery in San Francisco. Dr. Judge will also take any pre-operative photos and review your 3-D images and planned procedure(s) so you can ask any final questions.
Rhinoplasty is typically an outpatient procedure performed at an outpatient surgery center. You will receive a general anesthetic for the rhinoplasty or nose surgery, which usually lasts 2-3 hours. During the operation, Dr. Judge will reshape, augment or reduce your nose to achieve your desired look. If you are receiving the procedure to fix breathing problems, birth defects or to correct an injury, Dr. Judge will address the issue while still preserving the character of your nose. Nose surgery can be combined with other cosmetic surgeries or injectables to further complement your facial features.*
After your operation, you will be encouraged to walk around that evening to prevent potential blood clots. Most patients typically experience puffiness, nose ache or a dull headache for a short time after surgery. Swelling, bruising, bleeding or stuffiness may also occur, but this usually fades within 7-10 days.* Most patients typically return to work within 7 working days, though strenuous activity should be avoided for a full four weeks. Dr. Judge will schedule a follow-up post-recovery office visit to discuss your progress.
